After a very warm, dry April, May started off on a rather cooler note. 'Never shed a clout till may be out' was quite correct this year. However, towards the end of the month, temperatures started increasing so that by the end of the month, it really did feel as though Summer had arrived.
The Camellias, Magnolias and Cherries have all but finished. Now it's the turn of the Rhododendrons to fill the grounds with their wonderful spectacular colours. The herbaceous borders around the Formal Lawn are bursting into bloom to.
Here's hoping for a long warm summer!
